Overview

The Medical Assistant performs any combination of following duties under direction of physician to assist in examination and treatment of patients.

Responsibilities

1.

  • Prepare examination/treatment rooms; measure vital signs (i.e. pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure) as well as height and weight and records information of patient charts.2. Interviews patients, oversees the enrollment process.3.
  • Coordinate care with CLS.4. Inventory and order medical supplies and materials.5.
  • Maintain logbooks for quality control.6. Provides preventive health education.7. Inventory (vendors, labs, pharmacy);8. Hand instruments and materials to doctor, as directed.9. Preparation and maintenance of charts (i.e. allergy stickers, secures10. Past medical/psychiatric/dental data including medication profiles.11. Clean and sterilize instruments.12. Operate electrocardiograph (EKG), and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic test or calls a medical facility to schedule patients for tests.13. Administer treatments and perform routine laboratory tests.14. Record room filing, faxing, email, make calls.15.
  • Assist with specimen handling.16.
  • Assist in developing and implementing desensitization programs.17.
  • Participate in meetings or case conferences, as needed.18.
  • Provide educational support to patients and direct care professionals on behalf of patients.19.
  • Perform all other duties, as requested by supervisor. Expected Hours of Work: Days and Hours of work vary, Monday Friday, 35 Hours, Flexible
  • Work Location: This job operates in both the Brookville and Freeport Advantage Care Locations. Travel is regular between both locations.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Medical Assistant certificate from an accredited vocational program, a plus.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), a plus. qualification by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) and/or the National Health career Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), a plus.
  • Basic Life Support Certification.
  • AED Certification.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong oral, written, and organizational skills required.
  • Prior experience coordinating medical record activities of a busy medical office or healthcare center, a plus. Physical
