As a Payroll Compliance Administrator in the People function, you are responsible for supporting payroll operations and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations. This role combines payroll administration, audit support, tax compliance monitoring, and payroll governance activities to help ensure accurate payroll processing and regulatory compliance. The Payroll Compliance Administrator serves as a key resource in maintaining payroll integrity through auditing, reconciliation, tax rate monitoring, and support of payroll tax filings and compliance initiatives. This hybrid role reports to our Payroll Manager US-PR and is based in our New Jersey Support Office. A Day in the Life Working at H&M means no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will include the following responsibilities* Payroll Operations Support
- Assist with payroll processing activities and administrative payroll functions.
- Enter and process payroll corrections accurately and in a timely manner.
- Support final pay processes for states requiring immediate employee payout.
- Assist with payroll hours of reconciliation using HR and timekeeping systems.
- Monitor and respond to inquiries received through the Payroll Support inbox, providing resolutions for routine payroll questions, and escalating complex issues when necessary.
- Coordinate and complete payroll-related administrative tasks to support payroll processing deadlines and service-level expectations.
- Maintain payroll records and documentation in accordance with company policies and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with Payroll team, People team, and other internal stakeholders to support payroll operations. Payroll Compliance and Governance
- Perform state and local payroll tax audits on each payroll cycle to ensure tax withholding accuracy and compliance.
- Monitor federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and identify required payroll tax updates.
- Coordinate payroll recalculations and validation activities resulting from tax law changes or payroll tax updates.
- Review and monitor State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) tax rates and assist with implementation of updated rates across all applicable jurisdictions.
- Conduct periodic audits of payroll tax data, employee tax records, and payroll transactions.
- Support quarterly and year-end payroll tax filing activities.
- Assist with preparation of documentation and data requested for internal, external, and regulatory payroll audits.
- Identify compliance risks and recommend corrective actions to ensure adherence to payroll policies and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in maintaining payroll procedures, controls, and audit documentation. Who You Are:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and payroll experience may be considered
- 2-4 years of payroll, payroll tax, compliance, or related experience
- Experience at large, fast pace, complex organizations (employee population 10,000+)
- Experience with UKG Pro Payroll System, SuccessFactors HRIS, and timekeeping systems preferred
- Understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements
- Strong analytical and auditing skills with attention to detail
- Ability to identify payroll discrepancies and resolve issues accurately
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring payroll deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to manage confidential employee and payroll information with discretion

Compensation
Payrate range is $58,500 – $66,000 annually *This job posting highlights the most critical responsibilities and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive.
