Job Summary
A registered nurse implements the nursing process for each patient/resident (infancy to geriatrics depending on scope of care in the nursing department in which he/she works) assigned to his/her care. He/she is responsible for the co-ordination of direct and indirect care within the parameters of the Kentucky Nurse Practice Act and the policies and procedures of Baptist Health emergency departments.

Assesses patient/resident clinical status Develops a plan of care Implements/oversees the implementation of the nursing plan of care Evaluates effectiveness Communicates and validates patient care information Attends Staff Meetings Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Active Kentucky RN License required BCLS required ACLS & PALS required NIHSS Certification Required 2 years ER experience required BSN required except as noted: Individuals hired as a Staff RN prior to October 1, 2013, are grandfathered and exempt from additional BSN requirements.
Individuals hired as a Staff RN with at least 10 years of Staff RN experience who don’t hold a BSN will be required to either (a) obtain a BSN by enrolling in a program within one year of hire and completing within 5 years of employment or (b) obtain a specialty certification within one year of employment. Individuals hired as a Staff RN with less than 10 years of Staff RN experience who don’t hold a BSN will be required to obtain a BSN by enrolling in a program within one year of hire and completing within 5 years of employment.
