Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse Preceptor functions as a teacher and mentor in guiding, directing and supervising technical nursing activities of the nurse preceptee. Provides guidance and consultation when needed, regarding effective patient care and scope of practice. Creates formal and informal learning opportunities for peers regarding practice issues, technology and/or current research, identifies and intervenes when staff weaknesses are identified.

The Registered Nurse is directly responsible for the care given to their assigned patients. They communicate with the physician, nurse director, and coworkers about changes in the patient’s clinical condition including cardiac monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and abnormal results and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment.

Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality. Works collaboratively with patients, patients’ family, significant other(s) and hospital staff to achieve goals and outcomes.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING 1. Current and valid state Registered Nurse license. 2.

Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current. 3. Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.

4. Previous acute care hospital experience preferred. 5.

Ventilator Management experience preferred. 6. Medical-Surgical Nurse-Board Certified (RN-BC) or similar certification; preferred.

7. Completion of preceptor class. 8.

Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) required #LI-TA1 #LI-TA1 Pay Transparency Central Maine Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $37.80 to $54.75 per hour. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
