Job description
CITY OF WHARTON EQUIPMENT OPERATOR Class specifications are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed by employees in the class. Specifications are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. DEFINITION To operate construction and maintenance equipment in support of a variety of activities including mowing, excavating, grading, loading and related operations; and to perform other parks, horticulture, or street maintenance related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Receives general supervision from higher level staff. Exercises no supervision. EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES--Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Essential duties and responsibilities .
Operate construction and maintenance equipment such as tractors, trucks, riding mowers, push-mowers, backhoes, dump trucks, front-end loaders, table saws, sewer machines, spray paint machines, and various other equipment in support of a variety of maintenance and construction operations. . Participate in the repair and maintenance of parks, publicly owned properties, city streets, roads, and rights-of-way. . Excavate drainage ditches and backfill jobs upon completion. .
Perform additional grounds maintenance, construction and maintenance tasks such as park and roadway mowing, seeding, concrete work, truck driving, concrete spreading, jackhammering, and a variety of minor repair activities. .
