Job Summary
Essen Health Care is a growing, PE-backed, mission-driven organization at the intersection of value-based care, complex care management, and community health — with operations across NY, NJ, MA, PA, OH, and TX and vision to expand beyond. Within the Essen Health Care ecosystem is Intention Health Care is a home-based primary care and care management MSO, and Essen Clinical Partners, a full-service medical group staffing nursing homes across metro NYC. We are seeking an experienced Assistant VP of Marketing & Communications to own the brand for Intention and Essen Clinical Partners — its identity, positioning, and presence across all channels and audiences.
This senior leader will have end-to-end responsibility for the marketing function across both divisions, requiring both strategic vision and a genuine willingness to execute.
Responsibilities
Brand Strategy & Identity
- Own the brand strategy for Intention Health Care and Essen Clinical Partners — narrative, visual identity, and positioning within the Essen ecosystem — and maintain standards across all internal and external touchpoints.
- Lead integrated marketing plans covering advertising, social media, events, earned media, and digital presence for both Intention Health Care and Essen Clinical Partners; coordinate communications for program launches, partnerships, and milestones across both divisions. - Recruit, manage, and develop marketing staff (excluding sales and account personnel) supporting both Intention Health Care and Essen Clinical Partners; own the full marketing budget across advertising, sponsorships, social, and PR for both divisions — with direct accountability for consumer advertising outcomes. - Define and maintain a marketing performance framework — the right KPIs across channels, audiences, and programs — and use data to continuously evaluate and optimize resource deployment.
- Source and apply market, competitive, and consumer data to sharpen strategy; translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadership. Thought Leadership & Industry Presence
- Identify and pursue speaking engagements, conference presentations, CME development, publications, and other opportunities to elevate Intention's credibility in value-based and complex care.
- Build and maintain relationships with industry media, trade publications, and key opinion leaders. Collateral, Content & Digital
- Own all marketing collateral — patient and provider-facing materials, sales assets, one-pagers, and presentations — ensuring everything is current, compliant, and on-brand.
- Own the Intention Health Care and Essen Clinical Partnerwebsites and all digital properties: strategy, content, UX, and ongoing performance. Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with Business Development, clinical, operations, and compliance across Intention Health Care and Essen Clinical Partners to ensure consistent, aligned marketing across programs, geographies, and partnerships.
- Serve as the primary internal communications coordinator — ensuring the right messages reach the right audiences when Intention or Essen Clinical Partners launches programs or enters new markets.
Qualifications
Required
- 8+ years of progressive marketing experience, with 3+ years in a senior leadership role.
- Healthcare experience required — managed care, value-based care, care management, or physician-facing services strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to build and manage a brand across multiple stakeholder audiences: patients, providers, health plans, and community partners.
- Strong analytical capabilities — able to source, evaluate, and use data to assess performance and direct marketing strategy.
- Strong communicator — able to translate complex clinical and operational programs into clear, compelling messages.
- Experience owning marketing budgets with direct accountability for results; excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Collaborative, executive-level presence with the drive to do hands-on work. Preferred
- Experience in a multi-entity structure (MSO, IPA, ACO, or health system); familiarity with Medicare Advantage, Medicaid managed care, or value-based payment models.
- Prior thought leadership experience: CME development, journal publication, or conference programming.
- Dual experience marketing to consumer (patient) and B2B (provider, health plan) audiences; NYC market knowledge a plus.
