Overview

Department: Inpatient Rehabilitation Shifts Available: Days Employment Type: Per Diem (PRN) Hours: 8-hour shift: 8a - 4:30p (hours can be flexible) Location: St. Joseph Medical Center – Kansas City, MO A Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) specializes in diagnosing and treating speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders. SLPs work with individuals of all ages to improve communication skills and enhance quality of life by developing and implementing individualized treatment plans.

Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) work closely with other healthcare professionals and educate patients and family members on communication strategies to improve speech in patients' daily lives.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide therapy to improve articulation, fluency, voice disorders, and language comprehension.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other relevant professionals.
  • Maintain detailed records of patient evaluation, treatment, and progress.
  • Educate clients and family members about communication strategies.
  • Stay updated on clinical research and advances in speech-language pathology.

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

  • Graduate of an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's in Speech Therapy
  • Licensed by the state in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Current BLS for healthcare provider's certification upon hire and maintain current Additional

Qualifications

That Are a Plus:

  • MS degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • One year of experience with swallow assessment and treatment in an acute care hospital setting
  • One year of experience in acute care #LI-AM5 Employment Status Per Diem Shift Days
