Overview

The ideal candidate will be able to move between web programming languages quickly, be able to understand requirements and work through details in an agile environment in a fast, friendly manner, and know how to write automated tests for the functionality they introduce.

Responsibilities

• Participate as a core team developer, getting hands-on with BabyCenter’s US Community site as well as other PHP sites.
• Participate in the discussion of platform technical direction with team developers and architect.
• Collaborate with Product Team to develop new products and features, gather requirements, and scope work. Write automated tests (unit, integration, functional) for any functionality introduced.

Requirements

3+ years’ experience with PHP and LAMP stack

• Experience with Zend Framework 1 (or another PHP MVC framework) 2+ years’ unit-testing experience (e.g. PHPUnit) 2+ years’ experience in OO (object-oriented) design & re-factoring following a TDD (test-driven-development)
• Working knowledge of GIT and gitflow
• Working knowledge of JavaScript and JQuery
• Experience in working in a cross-functional, team-based agile environment
• Strong professional, communication skills MIS, computer science degree, or equivalent experience Nice To Have:
• Experience exposing a REST API (aka Service Oriented Architecture)
• Experience in Selenium WebDriver
• Experience in Java/Spring/Maven (Highly preferred)
• Experience with vagrant
