Grounds Service Technician

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION Responsible for operating a variety of heavy trucks, tractors, construction equipment, light duty pick-ups, grass cutting equipment on a regularly assigned basis; check for improper functioning of the equipment during operations; performing general grounds keeping and other duties necessary to maintain the appearance of the District locations. Essential Job Functions
• Drives light duty pick-ups, farm tractor, heavy equipment truck/machines, and grass cutting equipment.
• Repair/replace dumpsters at various locations.
• Pick up and deliver dirt, sand, mulch, firebark, and sod.
• Removes tree branches/stumps and debris when required.
• Cuts swells and ditches for drainage as needed.
• Perform concrete/asphalt patching, along with filling potholes.
• Removal of ice/snow when required.
• Serve as a strike team to cut district locations when requested.
• Cut SCIAA stadiums, along with tilling and dragging baseball fields when required.
• Travel to various sites to repair/patch concrete, asphalt, and potholes
• Attends meetings and workshops as necessary to enhance job knowledge and skills.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires High School diploma or GED plus one (1) year of related experience for a total of education/experience of 1 year. Requires a valid state driver's license.

• Degree Equivalency Formula :
• Bachelor's
• Degree = 4 years plus required years of experience.
• Master’s
• Degree = 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master's Degrees are required, years for Bachelor's Degrees must be included.
