About the Role
. G2 Ops is seeking a Model-Based Systems Engineer to develop and maintain SysML models supporting mission-critical defense programs. In this role, you'll be a hands-on modeler working within an established MBSE framework, creating architecture products and model-based deliverables that drive system design, analysis, and verification activities.
You'll work alongside experienced systems engineers in a collaborative environment that values technical excellence, rigorous modeling practices, and continuous professional development. What You’ll Do Core Modeling
Responsibilities
(70%)
- Develop SysML models capturing system requirements, architecture, and behavior, including:
- Block definition diagrams (BDDs) for system decomposition and taxonomy
- Internal block diagrams (IBDs) defining interfaces and data flows
- Activity diagrams modeling operational scenarios and system functions
- Sequence diagrams for interface behavior and message exchanges
- State machine diagrams for mode management and system states
- Requirement diagrams establishing traceability to stakeholder needs
- Perform model-based analysis to support design decisions, trade studies, and technical reviews
- Maintain model quality and consistency through adherence to modeling standards, naming conventions, and configuration management practices
- Generate model-derived products including interface control documents, architecture views, traceability matrices, and technical reports Collaboration & Integration (30%)
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (software, hardware, test, integration) to ensure model accuracy and alignment with program objectives
- Support requirements analysis by developing and maintaining bidirectional traceability between stakeholder needs and system design elements
- Participate in technical reviews presenting model-based architecture products to engineering teams and government stakeholders
- Contribute to digital engineering objectives by maintaining model connections to requirements management tools and supporting documentation generation
- Produce clear technical deliverables that communicate complex system relationships to both technical and non-technical audiences What You’ll Bring
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
- 3+ years of hands-on MBSE experience developing SysML models for complex systems
- Demonstrated proficiency creating structural models (BDD, IBD) and behavioral models (Activity, Sequence, State Machine diagrams)
- Experience with at least one enterprise MBSE tool (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody, or similar)
- Understanding of systems engineering lifecycle processes including requirements analysis, architecture development, design, verification, and validation
- Ability to establish and maintain requirements traceability within model-based environments
- Strong technical communication skills with ability to produce clear documentation and present modeling work to diverse audiences
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting DoD or government programs in aerospace, ground systems, C4ISR, or related defense domains
- Cameo Systems Modeler or MagicDraw hands-on experience
- Familiarity with DoDAF or UAF architecture frameworks and viewpoint development
- Experience with model-based requirements management tools (DOORS, Jama, Polarion, or similar)
- Knowledge of model collaboration platforms (Teamwork Cloud, 3DEXPERIENCE, or similar)
- Exposure to parametric modeling for performance analysis and trade studies
- Understanding of digital thread concepts and model integration across engineering disciplines
- OCSMP (OMG Certified Systems Modeling Professional) , ASEP (Associate Systems Engineering Professional), or CSEP (Certified Systems Engineering Professional) certification
- Experience with SysML v2 or willingness to learn emerging modeling standards Technical Environment. You'll be working in a mature MBSE environment with:
- Established modeling framework with defined standards, templates, and best practices
- Collaborative modeling team including systems engineers and MBSE specialists
- Integration with requirements management and configuration management tools
- Regular model reviews and stakeholder engagement sessions
- Mentorship opportunities from senior systems engineers and MBSE practitioners What Success Looks Like. In your first 90 days , you will:

- Contribute to ongoing model development under mentorship
- Deliver your first model-based architecture products for technical reviews In your first year , you will:
- Own modeling responsibilities for specific subsystems or capability areas
- Independently develop model artifacts supporting program milestones
- Establish yourself as a trusted technical contributor within the engineering team

Compensation & Benefits
