We are looking for a dependable CNC Equipment Operator to support structural steel fabrication operations. This position is responsible for operating CNC-controlled machinery used to process steel components while ensuring quality, accuracy, and safe production practices. The ideal candidate has experience working in a heavy manufacturing environment, understands fabrication drawings, and is comfortable operating industrial equipment in a fast-paced production setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC fabrication equipment, including plasma cutters, beam drill lines, and angle lines.
- Read blueprints, fabrication drawings, and production work orders to determine project requirements.
- Load, position, and secure steel beams, plates, and other materials using overhead cranes and rigging equipment.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain quality and production accuracy.
- Inspect completed parts using tape measures, calipers, squares, and other precision measuring tools.
- Make basic CNC program edits to accommodate different material sizes and thicknesses.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and troubleshoot minor machine issues.
- Follow OSHA guidelines and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school education is a plus.
- At least 2 years of CNC machine operating experience in structural steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing.
- Ability to read and interpret structural steel blueprints and shop drawings.
- Experience using precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Familiarity with overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment is preferred.
- Strong mechanical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Able to work independently while also contributing to a team-oriented production environment.
