Job description
Who We Are Verkada is transforming how organizations protect their people and places with an integrated, privacy-sensitive AI-powered platform that includes solutions for video security, access control, air quality sensors, alarms, intercoms, and visitor management. We’ve got serious momentum in the market: more than 30,000 customers (including 100+ of the Fortune 500), a $5.8B valuation , more than $1 billion in annualized bookings, and backing from CapitalG, Sequoia Capital, General Catalyst, Felicis Ventures, Next47 and more. Physical AI is one of the most consequential technology shifts of our time, and Verkada is at the center of it.
You can look at all kinds of communities to see our platform’s impact in the world. It's the retailer that uses our agentic AI to deter theft before it happens. The warehouse that uses AI-powered alerts to make sure its team is protected on the floor with proper PPE.
The school that’s alerted to a threat in real-time and triggers a lockdown in seconds, not minutes. We’re rapidly scaling this impact: today, more than 2 million Verkada devices are deployed across 170+ countries.
About the Role
As an Instructional Designer on the Solutions Engineering (SE) Enablement team, you will drive the creative transformation, multimedia production, and instructional excellence of technical enablement content across the global SE organization. In this role, you will report directly to the Director of Solutions Engineering Enablement and serve as a vital link between technical data architecture and field engagement. By collaborating closely with the Technical Content Architect and the Technical Content Delivery Manager, you will translate complex engineering concepts and product workflows into highly engaging, modern, on-demand enablement formats.
You will own the instructional design lifecycle, converting raw documentation and technical guides into scalable multimedia assets—including podcasts, micro-learning videos, and interactive training modules—to maximize field comprehension and retention.
What You'll Do
- Multimedia Learning Production: Transform complex technical specifications and product guides into highly digestible, modern learning modalities. Design and produce high-quality on-demand assets such as professional podcasts, short-form instructional videos, and interactive e-learning modules tailored to different learning preferences.
- Cross-Functional Content Collaboration: Partner closely with the Technical Content Architect to consume raw engineering documentation, and align with the Technical Content Delivery Manager to ensure production formats integrate seamlessly with the HighSpot LMS taxonomy and discoverability requirements.
- Instructional Design Strategy: Design and implement comprehensive learning paths following robust instructional design frameworks (e.g., ADDIE, SAM). Structure content specifically for the unique lifecycle phases of a global SE, including Onboarding (New Learn), Continuous Education (Re-Learn), and Just-In-Time field assets.
- Engagement & Retention Analytics: Establish metrics to track the consumption, completion rates, and educational effectiveness of on-demand multimedia assets. Leverage LMS data dashboards and field feedback loops to isolate learning gaps and iterate on asset design.
- Micro-Learning Optimization: Deconstruct extensive, multi-page technical guides or live session recordings into modular, snackable micro-learning components, allowing busy field engineers to consume critical technical updates efficiently.
- Scalable Media Governance: Maintain and manage a structured asset catalog of raw media components, audio files, video templates, and interactive storyboards, ensuring all production files are updated alongside rapid product releases. What You Bring
- 5+ years of experience in Instructional Design, Multimedia Production, or Technical Training Creation within enterprise SaaS, IoT, hardware, or networking industries.
- Advanced proficiency with modern e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate) and multimedia editing suites (e.g., Camtasia, Adobe Premiere, Audition, or similar video/audio software).
- Proven track record of collaborating with technical content developers, subject matter experts, and platform managers to deliver scalable education pipelines.
- Demonstrated capability building interactive software/hardware simulations, audio narrative scripts, video storyboards, and comprehensive evaluation rubrics.
- Foundational technical literacy (or strong comfort level learning) in cloud networking, IoT enterprise infrastructure, and physical security platform concepts to accurately translate subject matter.
- Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with an ability to turn rigid engineering data into a compelling, episodic, or interactive narrative. US Employee
