We are looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic to keep trucks, trailers, heavy machinery, and other fleet equipment operating safely and reliably. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on repair experience and can troubleshoot multiple mechanical systems, including hydraulics, electronics, small engines, and air conditioning. Overview

We are looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic to keep trucks, trailers, heavy machinery, and other fleet equipment operating safely and reliably. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on repair experience and can troubleshoot multiple mechanical systems, including hydraulics, electronics, small engines, and air conditioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, cranes, and other motorized equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to keep equipment operating reliably.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems involving hydraulics, electronics, small engines, air conditioning, and other related systems.
  • Complete repair orders accurately and document mileage, operating hours, dates, and work performed.
  • Coordinate urgent or emergency repairs with the Shop Foreman.
  • Follow assigned work priorities and help minimize equipment downtime.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
  • Follow required safety procedures and regulations.
  • Work with the maintenance team to complete repairs and service work efficiently.
  • Travel to other locations when needed for repairs, preventive maintenance, training, meetings, or other assignments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of maintenance experience working with heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, cranes, or similar equipment.
  • 5+ years of experience in at least two technical areas , such as:
  • Hydraulics
  • Electronics
  • Small engines
  • Air conditioning
  • Other related mechanical systems
  • High school diploma/GED plus trade school, dealership, or factory service training in diesel mechanical repair/maintenance equivalent to associate-level technical training.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and respond to urgent repairs.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Professional certifications related to heavy equipment maintenance and repair are preferred/required as applicable.
  • Additional certifications may be required for assigned duties. Physical

Requirements

  • Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, climbing, walking, sitting, and standing.
  • Ability to carry tools, parts, and other materials.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work extended hours when necessary.
  • Regularly lift up to 50 pounds .
  • Assistance is required for items weighing more than 75 pounds or items that create an ergonomic lifting or movement challenge.
