Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse - Acute General Medicine Department: Acute General Medicine (5800) Location: Rochester General Hospital Hours Per Week: Full-Time (36 hours per week) Schedule: Day/Evening/Night, Every Other Weekend, Every Other Holiday SUMMARY: The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care, usually under the direction of a Registered Nurse, in accordance with established plans. The Licensed Practical Nurse is a key member of the care delivery team. The Licensed Practical Nurse communicates the needs of the patient and the team; collaborates with the multidisciplinary team, takes direction from the RN and delegates appropriately to the other members of the team. The Acute Medical Unit (5800) provides specialized care for patients with complex medical conditions and multi-system health needs, offering Licensed Practical Nurses a dynamic environment to expand their clinical knowledge and critical thinking skills. Nurses on 5800 care for a diverse patient population, managing conditions such as cardiac disease requiring telemetry, diabetes, kidney disease and dialysis, pulmonary disorders, and patients with complex medical needs involving multiple drips, drains, and catheters. In addition to delivering high-quality medical care, nurses play an integral role providing compassionate, holistic care that supports both their physical and emotional well-being. RESPONSIBILITIES: · Patient Care & Service - Promote and restore patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; perform various treatment procedures; provide physical, educational and emotional support to patients, friends and families; supervise assigned team members. · Medication Administration & Reporting - Administer medication and give/receive relevant reports, both written and verbal from/to appropriate staff as per departmental protocols. · Documentation -

• Ensure clinical areas are properly supplied and exam rooms are available and stocked. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: · Graduate from an accredited School of Practical Nursing or equivalent required. · Current licensure in State of New York as a Licensed Practical Nurse. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: ·
