Job Description Seeking an experienced Clinical Laboratory Technologist with strong Blood Bank experience to support transfusion medicine services in a hospital-based laboratory environment.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in blood typing, compatibility testing, transfusion support, and laboratory quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform blood bank testing and laboratory procedures per established protocols Conduct blood typing, crossmatching, antibody screening, and compatibility testing
- Prepare and process blood products for transfusion services
- Maintain accuracy in specimen handling, testing, and documentation
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety, quality control, and regulatory standards Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment
- Review and verify laboratory results prior to reporting
- Collaborate with physicians and clinical teams regarding transfusion-related services
- Maintain accurate patient and laboratory records
Requirements
Minimum 1 year of Clinical Laboratory Technologist experience in Blood Bank Blood bank experience required Strong knowledge of: Blood typing and compatibility testing Transfusion medicine Laboratory quality control procedures Ability to work independently in a fast-paced laboratory environment
Qualifications
Associate
- Degree from an accredited Laboratory Technology program
- Bachelor’s
- Degree preferred Certifications: BLS (Basic Life
- Support) required License: Active New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License (092) required Primary Source Verification required
- Work Setting: Hospital-based Blood Bank / Clinical Laboratory Specialty: Transfusion Medicine Additional Information
- Work is conducted within a medium-security correctional facility
