Job Summary

This role will be a member of, and serve as primary strategic advisor to, th e Corewell Health South Leadership Team ( LTS ) , in St. Joseph , MI. The director will apply rigorous, data-informed analysis to develop regional, market and service level strategies , and at times, system level strategic initiatives – providing strategic direction, portfolio context and recommendations that inform opportunity assessment, investment planning and implementation.

The development of strong, trusted relationships within the Strategy and Business Development Department, the South Leadership Team and across the system is crucial to success. This role requires strong executive presence and excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to guide goal-setting , frame strategic choices and align leaders and teams around the shared priorities. Essential Functions This role will lead South Region strategy while shaping system direction and department capabilities .

Responsibilities

will include but are not limited to: Regional Strategy Development & Management:

  • Lead development and management of the South Region strategic portfolio, including growth, consolidation, and optimization opportunities. Guide goal setting and alignment, and clearly communicate strategic intent to stakeholders.
  • Ensure regional priorities align with system strategy while addressing local market needs. Sub-Regional Strategy Development:
  • Drive actionable strategies at the market, hospital, and service line levels.
  • Ensure alignment to regional and system priorities while addressing local dynamics.
  • Build strong relationships across regional leadership to enable collaboration, alignment, and execution. Regional Role with System Integration: Operate with a primary regional focus while embedding South Region priorities into system-level strategy.
  • Ensure South leaders are actively engaged in enterprise planning processes, and partner cross-region to inform and shape system direction. System-Level Strategic Leadership: At times, lead and drive system-level strategic initiatives beyond the South Region.
  • Coordinate cross-functional and cross-regional efforts, develop enterprise-level strategic materials, and advance priorities requiring system-wide alignment and execution.
  • Plan For & Model Competitive Movements: In partnership with Market Development and Insights, co-lead competitor assessments, scenario modeling, and response planning to inform strategic decisions and ensure readiness for market, regulatory, and competitive shifts. Shape Department Capabilities for Precision & Growth: Help lead the advancement of Strategy & Market Development capabilities, including analytic tools, planning processes, and team effectiveness. Strengthen the team’s ability to deliver faster, more precise, and data-driven strategic insights and recommendations.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's
  • Degree in business, marketing, statistics, mathematics or related field (or equivalent education and experience) Preferred
  • Master's
  • Degree in business, healthcare administration or related field 10 years of relevant experience Progressive experience in strategic planning and insights, market research, business analytics, strategic forecasting, or a related field.
