Summary
We are hiring a Structural Steel CNC Operator to run CNC equipment used in steel fabrication. This position requires experience with structural steel, fabrication drawings, material handling, and precision measurement. What You’ll Do
- Set up and operate CNC equipment, including plasma cutters, beam drill lines, and angle lines .
- Review shop drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine dimensions, specifications, and production requirements.
- Use overhead cranes and rigging equipment to safely position and secure steel beams, plates, and other materials.
- Monitor CNC equipment during production and make adjustments to maintain accuracy and product quality.
- Check finished work using tape measures, calipers, squares, and other precision measuring tools .
- Make basic programming edits and machine adjustments for varying material sizes and thicknesses.
- Perform routine CNC equipment maintenance and troubleshoot operating issues.
- Follow OSHA requirements and shop safety procedures .
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
- Work independently while coordinating effectively with the production team.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training preferred.
- 2+ years of CNC machine operation experience in structural steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing.
- Ability to read and understand structural steel shop drawings .
- Experience with precision measurement tools.
- Familiarity with overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
