Job Description Commerce Studios is seeking an Associate Producer to support all aspects of production for commerce content across all hours of TODAY and NBC News. This role includes a wide range of responsibilities from pre-production to scripting, overseeing edits and more. The AP must be comfortable with both tape and live segment production.
This role requires occasional Saturdays in studio. The Commerce Studios team is a group of producers, photographers and designers dedicated to producing shoppable content across our linear and digital platforms and creating graphics and original photography for our commerce content. The AP must be able to multitask and collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure success for all stakeholders.
An interest in shoppable programming and an eye on what’s trending is important. The AP must work creatively to produce shoppable content while maintaining the editorial integrity of NBC News and follow all journalistic standards and practices. Candidates should be organized, have a creative eye, passion for producing, storytelling and discovering new brands and items that improve viewers’ daily lives.
Responsibilities
may include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate logistics for complicated shoots and live commerce content for the portfolio of NBC News brands and platforms
- Conduct pre-interviews, scout locations, script tape and live segments and ensure edit elements are shot
- Work with graphic artists and editors to bring segments to life for air
- Collaborate with commerce HQ, Partnerships, Legal & Standards and other teams across NBCU
- Curate product lists via research, testing and pitching for various platforms
- Act as a liaison with external contacts such as PR firms for product inquiries and internal departments such as the Design Team for prop needs
- Manage special projects as designated and problem solve creatively
- Follow detailed steps regarding internal tracking documents for various projects, segments, research materials
- Tuesday - Saturday schedule on select weeks. Monday - Friday schedule for others. Please note : This is a short term position with an estimated duration of 12 months or less, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed. Works more than 1,000 hours per measurement period:
- Eligible for 401K after 1,000 hours worked in 12 consecutive months
- Eligible for Health and Welfare benefits on 1st day of employment
- Eligible to participate in Employee Stock Purchase Program after 90 days of employment Salary range: $65,000 - $75,000
Qualifications
- At least 3+ years’ experience creating content.
- 4-year college degree in journalism, marketing/business, or communications with an interest in storytelling or equivalent experience.
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook, Avid, Slack, and Google Docs.
- Proficiency with hybrid meeting tools including Microsoft Teams and Zoom. Desired Characteristics:

- Curious researcher who can dive into an array of subjects and distinguish great guests.
- Creative thinker who understands monetizing content while maintaining editorial integrity.
- Must be aware of latest formats and trends in digital video as a distinct form of content.
