The program provides support for English and non-English speaking children with disabilities by focusing on the whole child in their native language. Collaborative and data-based problem-solving approaches are utilized to develop appropriate interventions and progress monitoring.

The classrooms integrate evidence-based strategies from the Structured Teaching Model developed by Division TEACCH, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Physical structure, visual schedules, work systems, communication systems, and sensory supports are thoughtfully integrated to optimize student success. Midway serves students in grades K-12 and those transitioning from school to life ages 18-21.

Disabilities served include autism, emotional disabilities, specific learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, other health impairments, traumatic brain injury, and multiple disabilities. Responsibilities

• Employ data-based decision-making regarding multidisciplinary collaboration, functional behavior assessments and behavioral approaches
• Build leadership to effectively help students succeed
• Develop positive behavioral and academic interventions
• Monitor student progress and evaluations, program evaluations, and consult with educational staff, parents, and other professionals
• Some local travel to other Menta locations may be necessary at times

Qualifications

• Required: One of the following Licenses/Certifications: Certified School Social Worker (IL PEL Certificate), Certified School Counselor (IL PEL Certificate), MSW with LSW, LCSW, LCPC, LPC
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
• Strong consultative and data analysis abilities
• Creative thinker who can develop a wide range of interventions meeting the needs of a diverse student population
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred, but not required
• Excellent communication skills
