- Plan, design, deploy database systems, including base definition, structure, documentation, requirements gathering, preparing operational guidelines, and securing data.
- Develop data models and perform planning of architecture, functions, modules, recovery, standards and implementation
- Work with internal and external customers to develop new value-added programs and data solutions with existing data warehouse structure Act as liaison with customers on all new MySQL based projects
- Validate designed applications
- Analyze and determine information needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities
- Research and evaluate alternatives and recommend solutions for business issues Engineer and create ad-hoc reports utilizing various data sources
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies
- Participate in all major application/database enhancements and fine tune the systems for optimal performance
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain MySQL multi-level Master-Slave replication
- Install, configure, and maintain MYSQL Multi-master Group and Galera replication
- Optimize and tune MySQL database performance
- Continually improve monitoring, perform database capacity and usage planning
- Write and maintain scripts to automate routine DB tasks
- Troubleshoot database-related application performance issues
- Ensure security and data integrity of all MySQL instances
- Perform routine, periodic and proactive DB maintenance
- Provide on-call support of MySQL databases
- Implement tools to automate database operation and monitoring
- Implement database Backup and Monitoring solutions
- Test restore(master), recovery(point-in-time), replication
- Test cluster/multi-master failover and disaster recovery
- Implement, document and maintain database roles and security
- Research and evaluate alternatives and recommend solutions for business issues
- Create capacity planning reports based on historical data trends and projected data growth
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of experience in administering MySQL database , replication, tuning, backup and recovery
- Experience with MySQL Group replication and Galera replication is a plus
- Must be highly proficient in backup, recovery, replication, performance tuning, and proactive monitoring
- Strong Expertise in building, maintaining, supporting, troubleshooting, tuning, and monitoring production MySQL database servers
- Strong Knowledge with database architecture design, including data partitioning and application partitioning is a plus
- Solid Team player with a positive attitude and team spirit – can work alone and with others
- Ability to mentor team members.
- Communicates well (oral and written) with customers and management
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
