Overview

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Part-Time Handyman to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the general upkeep, maintenance, and repair of our facilities, ensuring they remain safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing. This role requires a versatile individual with a strong foundation in basic trades, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general maintenance.

The successful candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintains, services, and conducts minor repairs on buildings and equipment.
  • Performs a variety of semiskilled duties in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, or plastering.
  • Maintains property, including minor landscaping tasks, and assists with special projects.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained, organized, and stored safely.
  • Regularly inspects the premises to identify potential issues or necessary repairs, reporting any major structural or system failure to management.
  • Complies with established safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Maintain professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with staff, guests and visitors.
  • Maintains confidentiality of guests and staff.
  • Must have proven experience working as a handyman, maintenance worker, or in a similar capacity.
  • A solid understanding of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems is essential.
  • Must be proficient in use basic hand and power tools necessary for general repairs.
  • The position requires physical stamina, including the ability to perform physical labor, lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills are necessary to identify issues and implement effective solutions independently.
  • Good verbal communication skills are required to interact effectively with team members and report issues clearly.
  • Punctual, dependable, and capable of managing their time effectively to complete tasks within the designated part-time hours.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred, and candidates must have reliable transportation to and from the work site.

Benefits

This is a part-time position requiring approximately 20 hours per week. The specific schedule can be flexible and will be determined mutually upon hiring. For example, a typical schedule might be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Requirements

  • Walking, standing, stooping, crouching, climbing, regularly lifting up to 10 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, driving, ascending/descending stairs, using tools, repetitive motion.
  • This position requires mobility and stamina including prolonged standing, and maintaining awkward positions to reach tight spots like crawl spaces, attics, or under sinks.
  • This position requires coordination and balance including:
  • Working at heights: climbing ladders, scaffolding, and step stools while maintaining good balance
  • Hand dexterity: use fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination to handle small screws and wires and precision hand or power tools.
