Overview
We are hiring an experienced Structural Steel Welding & Fabrication Supervisor to oversee second-shift shop operations. This role provides hands-on leadership to welders and fitters while coordinating production, quality, staffing, equipment, materials, and schedules.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and provide direction to shop employees, including welders and fitters.
- Oversee daily fitting, welding, fabrication, and production activities.
- Manage shop personnel, equipment, tools, and materials.
- Maintain and update production and fabrication schedules.
- Coordinate deliveries and adjust priorities to support project timelines.
- Develop and communicate standard fabrication procedures.
- Monitor workmanship and maintain quality control standards.
- Identify ways to improve employee effectiveness, production efficiency, and quality.
- Coordinate with project management, logistics, purchasing, and other departments regarding schedules, product status, quality, and delivery.
- Communicate with other fabrication facilities when needed.
- Maintain equipment and building conditions as applicable.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels in coordination with the First Shift Foreman, management, and Purchasing.
- Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Balance shop workload and communicate operational needs to management.
- Determine staffing and work hours as necessary to meet delivery schedules.
- Follow and enforce company policies and procedures.
- Make operational decisions that support company objectives.
Qualifications
Required:
- Experience in the structural steel fabrication industry .
- Previous leadership, foreman, or supervisory experience overseeing welders and fitters .
- Strong knowledge of welding, fitting, and steel fabrication operations.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite .
- Ability to work 2nd shift , including overtime and Saturdays as needed.
