Staff Backend Engineer ($300k - $500k salary)

• Own the hardest backend problems across the system, from performance bottlenecks and scaling limits to correctness and reliability under load - Set technical direction for core backend systems, making principled architectural decisions that balance speed, quality, and long-term maintainability -
• Design, build, and operate distributed services that run in production and are relied on daily -
• Identify systemic issues early and drive them to resolution, even when the problems are ambiguous or cross-cutting - Raise the bar for backend engineering by mentoring peers, reviewing designs and code, and modelling strong engineering judgment WHO YOU ARE - Have built and operated distributed systems at scale multiple times -
• Strong experience in Rust, Go, or TypeScript -
• Deep knowledge of databases and data modelling, including tradeoffs around consistency, performance, and reliability - Known for solving problems others couldn’t - High-agency and ownership-driven, able to take ambiguous problems and drive them to concrete outcomes without waiting for direction - Crypto experience is a plus, but not required WHAT IT'S LIKE TO WORK HERE - We work in person - Hours can be long and unconventional - The pace is intense - Expectations are high, and impact is immediate -
