Job Description Job Title: Contract Negotiator Location: Overland Park KS 66210 Duration:-3 months Job Description: Develop, contract, maintain and enhance relationships with facilities, physicians and ancillary providers which serve as contractual networks of care for members; foster growth of managed care products; and enhance profitability of Aetna. Recruits and negotiates physician and/or provider contracts in accordance with company standards in order to maintain and enhance provider networks while meeting and exceeding accessibility, quality and financial goals.

Requirements

- Accountable for all aspects of physician recruitment and contracting as well as ad/hoc network contracting, as assigned (*)
- Responsible for re-negotiating or negotiating solo, group, hospital-based and physician contracts in support of network quality, availability and financial goals (*)
- Participates in the strategic recruitment of physicians satisfying specific network goals and objectives (*)
- Proficient in Excel and Word; ability to use Search Engines (*)
- Proven working knowledge of standard provider contracts, terms and language desired (*) Additional Information: Education and Certification
Requirements
Bachelor's degree desired or equivalent work experience (3+ years contracting) Additional Information (situational competencies, skills, work location requirements, etc.)
- Communication Skills - Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
- Mastery of provider contracts, contracting options, PADU (alternate language manual) guidelines as well as provider configurations
- In-depth knowledge of the managed care industry and practices, as well as a strong understanding of Aetna competitor strategies, practices, and financial/contracting arrangements
- Business knowledge including health care and Aetna culture, i.e., how to get things done within the company
- Solid negotiating skills
