Position Title: Occupational Therapist - OU Medical Center - Adult Acute Care Department: Adult Rehab Services Job Description: This position may be filled as an Occupation Therapist Level I, II, or III, depending on individual qualifications, experience, and business need. General Description: Under general supervision, performs professional Occupational Therapy activities consisting of planning, evaluating, establishing and implementing individual and group treatment activities under the direction of a physician.   • Interpret a physician’s referral and select an appropriate standardized evaluation procedure
  • Evaluate patient in the following areas: independent living skills, occupational performance, prevocational work adjustment, educational skills, play-leisure abilities, social skills and various psychosocial skills
  • Interpret the data and develop a treatment plan involving short and long term goals, frequency and duration of treatment
  • Assist patient in carrying out these procedures through the design and fabrication of adaptive equipment and orthotic devices, joint protection and body mechanics
  • Inform patient and family goals and progress
  • Assist with discharge planning by ordering equipment and instructing patient on home therapy plan
  • May supervise students General

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s
  • Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Experience: None License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current license from the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision as an Occupational Therapist OR eligible to sit for the exam; License must be obtained within six (6) months of hire. Current Basic Life
  • Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of professional occupational therapy and the materials and supplies utilized in the program.  Skill in organizing and instructing occupational therapy activities.
  • Ability to interpret prescriptions related to therapy needed.  Good interpersonal skills in establishing effective working relations with staff.
